The Satori range of products (PhotoXL, FilmFX and WebFX) are image-editing applications like Photoshop, but with an important difference : they let you work on low-res versions of the images, remembering every change you make, which you can finally render on the full-res version - thus saving an impressive amount of time.
FilmFX, which I have tested, is the most powerful product of their line, more a complement than a competitor for Photoshop : not as good as Photoshop when it comes to color correction and selections, but way more powerful for vector and paint-like effects. Its interface can seem bizarre at times but you soon get familiarized with it.
This plugin suite consists in three separate modules aimed at working seamlessly with both apps :
- a plugin for loading RIR files (the Satori format) into PS - Satori naturally recognizes PSD files ;
- a plugin for exchanging layers or selections between both apps - one click and your image is in Satori, another and it is back into PS ;
- and finally Canvas FX lets you take advantage of Satori-specific effects right from Photoshop´s filter menu.
Satori itself is a robust app, and this suite is an excellent way to get the best of both worlds - I have found all plugins to work perfectly, their interface is extremely simple, and I experienced no speed problem. |
