The principle of this "most-wanted" page is to list plugins and effects frequently asked for, whether on Photoshop / Paint Shop Pro newsgroups or to me by email.

• for 3D Text and/or text around a path, Vertigo´s 3D Hot Text ; also for circular text, look for the Polar Coordinates filter provided with PS;
• Spider Web : part of Digital Showbiz´s Sweet Flux set, which is not sold anymore, but a similar effect is part of Oliver´s filters, a freeware set;
• Lightning : there is one in Almathera´s A-Plugins set (defunct company), and a better one in AlienSkin´s Xenofex set;
• Page Curl : there is a good one in KPT3´s set, the best freeware one is Mark´s, and the best comes from AV Bros.
• Horizontal Scan lines / TV Lines: these can be achieved using Rorshack´s Ripleyer, François Saluden´s Entrelacement or Scan Line Plugin : 24 k.
• Eyeballs : they come from a preset of Kai´s Power Tools set Spheroid Designer.

Sets to buy first (in my opinion):

• Dreamsuite Series 1 by AutoFX : an excellent collection of 18 high quality effects which include Dimension X, Liquid Metal and Metal Mixer.
• EyeCandy 4000 by AlienSkin : provides all sorts of effects such as fire, smoke, drips, waterdrops.... all of which are completely adjustable, so that you can do a lot more with them;
• Kai´s Power Tools 3 by MetaCreations : a great classic, with excellent, classic effects (noise, page curl...), plus some filters which are almost programs of their own, and provide for complex, very unusual effects (Spheroid Designer, Interform...), now included in KPT5, together with a bunch of new, cool effects;
• Auto FX PhotoGraphic Edges 5 : if you want to add edge effects to pictures, look no further : this one comes with a complete set of predefined edges, which you can customize, including all sort of effects such as burn, relief...;
• Extensis PhotoTools 3 and Mask Pro 2 : the first extends Photoshop's user-friendliness, with toolbars and run-of-the-mill effects such as drop shadows and an excellent texture creator, the second is the ultimate when it comes to making complex selections and masks.
• Flaming Pear´s Blade Pro : probably the cheapest of the bunch, this one comes as _the_ tool for texturing, adding grain... There are also a number of presets available for free on the net (go here to get started)
• Andromeda Photography Filters : all sorts of photographic effects, such as rainbows, lenses...;
• Axion Flare Effects 2 : when it comes to making lens flares, from the most realistic to the completely surrealistic, there it is... and it is cheap, too !;
• Ulead´s Smartsaver Pro : maybe not the best in terms of quality or control for preparing images for the web, but clearly the most efficient by far.
