This company produces two interesting but cheap plugins : Glow´n Sparkle and Flare Effects (both now compatible with Photoshop 5).

Also note that they offer the older versions of these plugins ; these do not work with Photoshop 5, only with previous versions or other graphics programs.

Glow'n Sparkle

A very simple and interesting plugin, it helps you add either glows or sparkle effects to certain colors of your image, with settings to define exactly what range of colors is affected, and the general effect.

Though it is not something you are likely to use in all your jobs, it remains a nice effect - be aware though that it can take some time to apply it.

Flare Effects

Screenshot of the interface (flare edit mode)Don't be fooled by the name : this plugin is way more powerful than the Lens Flare coming with PS. Of course, you can still create a variety of realistic lens flares, either by using the standard presets or modifying them to suit your needs, but the nice thing is that you can create all sorts of surreal lighting effects, assembling different sorts of elements (flares of course, but also rays, polygons, circles, rings...), and editing them (color, shape, noise..) until you get what you want.

The nice point with this plugin is that it is cheap, fast and easy to use (as compared to Genesis VFX), even if there are a couple of odd details in the interface.
