Andrew Buckle probably is the most prolific author of extensions for all sorts of graphic programs ; you will find below the review of
one of his 62 sets of filters for Photoshop developed with the Filter Factory, all of these are available either from
Steves Desktop
Photography for the download, or from his website if you want to buy them on CD. He also sells nozzles, grains and brushes for Painter, and has recently taken to developing
plugins for Illustrator 8, 9, 10 and CS and Photoshop plugins with Filtermeister, the first two of which are reviewed
below. He has also released an impressive
commercial set of 35 Andrew's plugins, as well as 14 additional volumes. In any case, his
website is an incredible resource to visit often.
On this site, you can find Graphicxtras (formally Sapphire Innovations) demos for download:
free
brushes, free shapes,
free gradients,
free styles, free plugins,
free textures,
free displacement maps, free frames and
free patterns.
If you want to view thumbnails images of each of the 62 filter sets, I recommend

A set of various 16 filters, from Cosine Jar, DownHill, DownHill Too, HeadAche and Iuv create beautiful color effects (I really love these), Curvey Extra Special that creates a colored and circular veil on the image, Cutout hides part of the image and colors another part around a hole, Grey is self explanatory, Grey Streaks adds offset to the previous, Gridlines covers the image with vertical and horizontal colored lines, Halftones with colored blocks, InnerSelf for splitting the image and reversing half of it, Inverted Channel Shift and Inverted Channel Mixup are "Solarizers", and Inverted Random Shift solarizes and adds noise. The Little Box creates a square zone with an highlighting different from the rest of the image.
In the end, an impressive set, especially when it comes to the 5 colorize effects. |

Probably one of the most interesting plugin for color effects around, it takes some time to get accustomed to the numerous controls and their effects, but the reward is well worth it, with enough possibilities to make this thing a must-have - even if most of what it does can be done using the usual color corrections functions, it is really handy to have it al in one go. |

This little one enables you to add every kind of noise you may wish, with all sorts of directions and colors possible - just make sure you do not use too violent settings, in which case you get an awful mess... As usual with FilterMeister, the interface is nice and easy to understand though a bit sad; a couple of glitches though, such as the directions menu (you cannot go up with the mouse) and the fact that there is neither random function nor possibility to save presets. |
